There is so much to reflect on when I think about 2017 and the changes and growth my business has undergone. From sunsets in California to sunflower fields in Kansas, this past year saw me saying goodbye to incredible families I’d gotten to know as I was invited to capture meaningful moments for them, and saw me given the opportunity to meet new faces and document new memories. The transition to Kansas was more then I expected, and I cannot express how grateful I am that within weeks of moving I was back behind my camera getting the chance to keep doing something I love so much.
Looking ahead, I am eager for what this year holds. For the first time, I am tackling a 365 project which means I will be committing to take one photograph each day of 2018. Granted we are only seven days in but so far so good! I know this project will encourage me to grow in areas of photography that while always interested in, I’ve not focused as much time on. And really I’m sure my children can only take so much before they start running each time they see my pick up my camera. Ha!
A few other goals as I start the new year…
Finally finish up editing images from my family summer road trip. We traveled from Southern California up the west coast to Seattle and then across to Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks. The memories we made were unbelievable. I can’t wait to share some of our adventures. Hoping to get a blog up soon documenting our travels.
And speaking of blogging…I am determined to be better at it this year. I hope to share with you more of my life, as well as my work.
In that spirit, I’d like to share some of my favorite images from 2017. Some of them made it on the blog but some hadn’t before today. Looking back at these I am grateful beyond words for those of you who have trusted me to photograph your families and your memories. Here’s to 2018 friends. To new beginnings, new adventures, and new moments captured.
