My babies tend to be big babies. Actually the phrase “he’s a moose” was exclaimed by my OB when my last son was born. (Note…that is not what you want to hear as you deliver your baby!) He was 9 lbs 5 oz so yes, big babies are kind of what I’m used to. So when I get the chance to photograph a littler babe, I’m beside myself. I just love how sweet and tiny they can be. Precious little hands, ears, and so on. This beautiful girl was no exception. She was a petite girl and such an absolute doll. And so relaxed. She slept for her whole session. I could have stayed all day snapping away.
I am so grateful to be invited into a home so soon after baby arrives. Adjusting to a new addition can take time but this family was doing an amazing job. So much joy and happiness as I captured them. Big brother was so full of energy and silliness and I know will be an amazing playmate for his sister as she grows.
After spending some time with the whole family, I had the chance to get images of dad with baby and then mom and dad together. I could not have asked for a more chill baby as I photographed her by herself. So content just to snooze away – and that bow!! As we were wrapping up, it was time for mom to get in front of my camera with her girl. Love moments between a mama and daughter. Such a special bond. So much love there.
To all of you who may be thinking about a session upon the arrival of your newest addition, my best advice is to do it. Find a photographer you are comfortable with and love his or her style and reach out to schedule a session. These babies are only this little for such a short period of time. Even with this sweet, tiny girl, I met her and her mama for coffee a few weeks after her session and she was already so much bigger. It is amazing how time does that! You house does not have to be spotless, your outfits perfect or big brother or sister 100% into being in front of the camera to capture meaningful moments and memories. Each moment is special and deserves to be remembered.
